Review the assessment criteria

Which evidence answers your question.

For supplier assessment, review certificates and their scopes. Part acceptance requires connecting requirements, checks and results for that reference. The process provides context for manufacturing and verification; each level needs different evidence.

  • Supplier: certificates and management system scope

  • Process: relevant operations and controls

  • Part: criteria, results and required approval

From requirement to record.

For each relevant feature, define what is acceptable, how it is checked and which record your team needs. This relationship guides measurement methods, controls and applicable studies. It is a working approach; results and documents relate to the specific part and program.

  • Feature: which requirement it must meet
  • Acceptance: which criteria apply
  • Verification: how the result is obtained
  • Record: which evidence needs retaining

Documentation for supplier evaluation.

Published certificates identify their scope, version, language and dates. ISO 9001 and IATF have different scopes; management system certification does not automatically approve a customer’s component. You can request additional information for your assessment.

  • Original certificates and their scopes
  • Identified scope and site
  • Additional supplier assessment requirements

Which documents you need to receive.

Identify the documents your assessment or approval requires, the part reference and revision, and who needs to review them. Project drawings, studies and approvals are exchanged under controlled access and agreed confidentiality. Availability and scope are established during the technical review.

PROJECT QUESTIONS

Tools and approval.

What do planning and control tools contribute?

APQP organizes development; process FMEA reviews risks; the control plan defines checks and reactions. MSA evaluates the measurement system, while SPC analyzes process variation. Their application and the studies needed are defined against the component and program requirements, linking each tool to a specific purpose.

What does preparing a PPAP involve, and who approves it?

PPAP is the Production Part Approval Process. Its documentation brings together the product and process evidence required by the customer. We agree the content and submission level for the program; review and approval follow the process defined by that customer.
