Temperature and load loss

Operating temperature can affect properties and reduce load over time under sustained deformation.

Relaxation and creep

Stress relaxation is a decrease in force or stress at nearly fixed deformation; creep is deformation that evolves under sustained load. Magnitude and rate depend on material, temperature, stress, and time.

Representative conditions

State minimum, normal, and maximum temperatures, dwell duration, load, and heating cycles. The calculator's ambient modulus values do not correct for temperature or predict relaxation or creep.
