Designing from a target load

An inverse problem searches for candidate geometries that meet operating points; it does not by itself produce an approved design.

Define the problem

Set spring type, envelope, load and travel or angle at multiple points, required life, and environment. Many solutions—or none—may fit within manufacturing and installation limits.

Review candidates

A preliminary algebraic solution may fail due to fractional turns, ends, stability, local stress, fatigue, tolerances, or material availability. The current calculator inverts a simplified body model; it does not select a manufacturable product.
