Spring types
Special geometries
Conical, barrel, disc, strip, spiral, and wave springs follow different geometry and contact behavior.

What changes
A conical spring can change rate through its travel and nest; disc springs use deflection of a conical washer; strip, spiral, and wave springs rely on bending or wave form. Supports and inter-coil contact alter response.
Choose the model
Do not automatically extend a cylindrical round-wire helix formula to these families. This calculator does not solve them. Sizing requires full geometry, material, supports, travel, and service load.
